Membership

Membership is earned, not purchased.

Admission is by application and assessment against published criteria. Payment is not taken until an application is approved, because a designation anyone can buy is worth nothing to the people who hold it.

What is assessed

Four things, assessed the same way every time.

  1. 01

    Competence

Relevant trade or professional qualifications and licences, and where it applies, the IRP Diploma, either completed or under way.

  2. 02

    Experience

Demonstrated involvement in remedial building work, evidenced by projects, roles and responsibilities, with referees who can verify it.

  3. 03

    Ethical standing

Agreement to the IRP Code of Conduct, and full disclosure of any regulatory or disciplinary finding. Disclosure is reviewed on its facts rather than disqualifying an application automatically.

  4. 04

    Professional commitment

Ongoing continuing professional development, and a willingness to engage with peer review and the standards the Institute sets.

Membership may be suspended or revoked if these standards are not maintained. The criteria are what the designation is worth, so they are applied after admission as well as before it.

Three categories

One standard, applied to how you practise.

Individual

Practising professionals
Assessed practitioner membership

For inspectors, consultants, engineers, project managers and remedial trades, assessed against the criteria for their category. Carries the designation, a public listing, community access, CPD tracking and committee eligibility.

Apply
You will create an account first. This becomes your member record.

Corporate

Firms and asset owners
Assessed organisational membership

For businesses that deliver or commission remedial work and want their standards recognised. Covers named staff under one membership, with company-level CPD tracking.

You will create an account first. This becomes your company’s member record.

Supplier Associate

Manufacturers and partners
Not a practitioner accreditation

For product and service suppliers to the sector. Structured, transparent engagement with the profession. It does not confer practitioner status, and it is not represented as accreditation.

Two ways in

Qualify through the Diploma, or apply on your record.

Pathway one

Through the Diploma

Complete 11095NAT through the approved RTO partner and accredited membership follows on confirmed completion, at no extra cost.

Pathway two

By direct application

Already working in the field without the Diploma. Apply on the strength of your existing qualifications and remediation experience, assessed against the same criteria.

What membership carries

Recognition that has to be earned to be worth holding.

  • Use of the IRP designation and member branding
  • A public listing as an assessed practitioner
  • Access to the private member community: peer support and technical discussion
  • Standards and practice notes: the Institute's published methods, guidance and technical notes
  • CPD tracking built into membership
  • Member rates on short courses and events
  • A voice in the profession: representation to government, regulators and industry
  • Voting rights and committee eligibility, for Individual members

How admission works

Five steps, and no payment until the end.

Step one

Apply

Complete the application for your category. There is no charge to apply.

Step two

Evidence

Provide licences, a CV where relevant, and project references the Institute can verify.

Step three

Review

The Institute assesses the application against the published criteria and the Code of Conduct.

Step four

Decision

An approval panel decides. You are told the outcome either way.

Step five

Admission

On approval you are enrolled in your category. Payment is taken at this point, not before.

Apply

A designation that means something.

Because admission is assessed, not automatic. Start your application, or explore the Diploma pathway that anchors it.
